Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) was privileged to receive a delegation from the University of Namibia (UNAM) on Wednesday, 14 November 2018. The delegation engaged with academics and experts from the University of Pretoria (UP) as part of a benchmarking exercise towards implementing a work readiness enterprise based on the successful Ready for Work Programme initiated by UP’s Career Services and Enterprises UP.
To remain competitive in the global market and produce high quality graduates, UNAM and Enterprises UP are looking towards best practice application and providing students and graduates with the necessary skills to become more articulate, confident and well-disciplined in the transition from university to the world of work. Such a programme will also empower students to be educated and informed about issues which may not necessarily be taught in the mainstream curriculum and to build confidence and the ability to relate to members of a broader society.
During the visit, the delegation received a full overview of the project background and information on employer engagement, survey feedback, career planning, job preparation, workplace skills and personal development. This was followed by a tour of the facilities at the University’s Hatfield Campus where the delegation also received a full demonstration of the current programme as it is rolled out to students at UP, including marketing and operational aspects around its success.
