Welcome to the inaugural edition of GRASP, the newsletter of the Office of Government Relations and Special Projects (GRaSP) at the University of Pretoria. Recent experiences of universities globally have pointed to the urgent need for closer collaboration between universities, civil society and government in the development of communities and society. Business could be added to that equation as has so prominently come to the fore in the recent and continuing struggles of students to make ends meet in trying to access and succeed in higher education in South Africa and abroad.
